Magnifique album de cette collection. Un dessin par page c'est vraiment parfait pour moi. Je suis ravie.
I enjoy Celtic-inspired coloring books and was looking forward to receiving this one after pre-ordering it sight unseen. While it is a little more intricate than I had expected, I still enjoy coloring in it. The mandalas incorporate many Celtic emblems and symbols. Because of the intricate detail (small areas to color on most designs), it is not a book I would recommend to anyone with vision or fine motor issues.The coloring book is the standard size for Creative Haven and the designs are circular. That makes for empty space both at the top and bottom of the design. If I decide to frame a finished project or mount it on a card for a gift, I'll use a paper cutter to cleanly remove the empty space.I noticed that the feel of the paper is slightly smoother than some of the Creative Haven books I have received recently. I've noticed that the paper seems to change quite frequently on these books. Because of that, if you buy one of these books, it may be slightly smooth or slightly rough depending on when and where it was printed. Colored pencils still work well with the slightly smoother paper (see below.)This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium.31 Celtic-inspired mandala designs in a circular formatThe designs are printed one side of the pagePaper is the usual Creative Haven quality: white, medium weight, slightly smooth and has perforated pages.Glue Binding but with perforated pages so removing a page is fairly simple.The designs stop well before the perforations with lots of empty space above and below the mandalasAlcohol-based markers bleed through this paperWater-based markers bleed through in spots and show colorful shadows on the back of the pageGel pens and India ink pens leave shadows of color on the back of the page. India ink pens can bleed through when I apply more than one layer of ink.Coloring pencils work well with this paper. I was able to get good pigment (color) lay down, layer the same color and multiple colors and to blend easily using a pencil style blender. I tested both oil and wax-based pencils with similar results. Hard lead pencils, like Verithins, leave dents on the back of the page.I suggest either removing pages from the book to color or using a blotter page under your working page. I like card stock as it keeps ink from seeping through and damaging the pages below.
These celtic inspired mandalas are simply gorgeous! The book is printed single sided on decent quality paper, and it is perforated for easy removal. The designs are fairly complex with some very tiny details. I would only recommend this book for more advanced colorists. I also wish the book was printed in a more square format to avoid so much empty white space at the top and bottom of each page.
I absolutely LOVE Creative Haven! The paper is the perfect weight and the are perforated. I prefer removing the page I am working on to make it easier to color. The mandalas are intricate and enjoyable, I find it is such a wonderful way to relax. No matter the subject you can never go wrong with any of the Creative Haven coloring books.
Adult coloring books are currently a passion of mine, especially since I have been housebound this past year. I have purchased many mandala coloring books and this is one of my favorites so far. The designs are of a Celtic nature and very intricate and interesting. The pictures I have attached were all done with Gel Pens even though I usually use colored pencils and sometimes markers. I prefer to purchase Creative Haven books because of the perforated pages. This mandala book has at least 30 designs to color, each one different. Enjoy!
I've purchased many (50-75) coloring books in the past five years, and this one is excellent!!... the paper is the smoothest I've ever colored on!!!... the lines are crisp and clear... the color is exactly what color is supposed to be (no splotchiness, no dark spots)... I'm in love with this book and I'm so excited I bought two of them... I will color the second one completely different than the first one!!!... seriously, but this one... you will not regret it!!!... and Creative Haven are my all time favorite coloring books... I have all of them, but this one, the quality is exceptional... it's like they are getting better and better, instead of passing off cheap junk because they kniw we'll buy it... thank you, Creative Haven, for this one... I love it!!!
